Around 10 years ago a Greeley woman, Keri, who had suffered from burning sensation on her forearms for months. Then one day she came for an acupuncture treatment and took some Chinese herbs, and the burning sensation went away pretty much. However, a week later she brought me a letter, which stated that both her doctors and the social security office had disagreed with her disability claim, so she asked me to support her to be qualified.  She had felt so hopeless for months prior to seeing me.

Since her condition was improved a lot, therefore I suggested her to have one more treatment before she would make an appeal. Twelve days later, Keri came back and asked me to treat her again, for she was able to work for 10 to 12 hours per day, for 11 days without any burning sensation. Besides, she had earned over $900.00. Keri was only 40 years old, and if she was qualified for disability benefits at that time, each month all she could receive from the social security office was $400.00, that’s it.

Guess what! Three months after, a neighbor’s relatives came from Mexico for a vacation, and as soon as Keri found out that the husband of the visiting family had severe lower back pain, she asked her son to bring him to see me. And her son told me that keri’s burning sensation never comes back again.

Talking about burning sensation, in the 1990s, there was an owner of a French bakery who had suffered from burning sensation on his lower legs for over two years; he had to see three different specialists in three cities (Boulder, Broomfield, and Lafayette) but none of them could really help him. Finally he and his wife decided to move back to France. A week before they left some one referred him to me, so I treated him twice, and it was the end of his so-called severe burning sensation.

Well, if anyone has burning sensation on his arms, legs, back, or elsewhere, he is supposed not to drink any alcohol or to eat spicy food. In addition, you have to do acupuncture to “restore” his natural healing power. For example, when he catch a cold, coughing plays a role to worm-up his lungs, but if you inserted needle on his acu-points S 36 and P 6, it could help him to restore his energy quicker and safer. Furthermore, if his lungs were worm enough and able to release heat and sweat through the pores, the burning sensation would be disappeared.

Once Keri felt hopeless for her doctors was unable to get rid of her burning sensation, and today there are hundreds and hundreds of patients who had experienced my treatments and suggestions are hopeful.

In the fall of 1994, Dick came to see me from Fort Collins right after he had sprained his left ankle. The ankle was swollen all the way down to the toes, and the foot was twisted about one inch outward and half an inch upward. In about twenty minutes with Qi-gong massage and acupuncture, he was able to walk again. Why he didn’t go to a local hospital for urgent care, instead?

As a matter of fact, over a year prior to his foot injury, he had injured his right shoulder while he was rock climbing, and after he was treated by physicians and physical therapists for six months he was told that, “You should not practice rock climbing any longer, otherwise your shoulder would be gotten worse and worse.” Finally someone recommended him to see me for acupuncture treatment and to take some Chinese herbs, and he was able to do rock climbing without any trouble, before he came back again for another treatment a week later. That's all he needed for his troublesome shoulder. No doubt, when he had sprained his ankle, he was wondered that where should he go for help immediately, a local hospital or to see me in Boulder?

According to Dick, he had fallen down from six feet above the ground at the end of his rock climbing, and sprained his left ankle. The injury was pretty severe so he was hesitated for a while whether to go to for an urgent care. Anyway, he chose to drive to his friend’s house in Boulder, and then had his friend taken him to see me.

It was 5:50 PM, Thursday, while I was teaching acupuncture. Since I was also taught them massage so they were eager to learn how to treat sport injury earlier. They were the witnesses, included one medical doctor, who had experienced how acupuncture and Qi-Gong message work.

We had prescribed some Chinese herbs for Dick to cook and drink for three days, as well as suggested him to take a few days off from work. But he had to fly to California to meet his wife the next day, so I told him to come for a free check-up in the morning before he left.

Due to too much walk without any crotch his ankle swelled up again, so I had to prick his left foot, included the ankle, to let some fluids and dead blood out.  In addition, I had suggested him to borrow two crotches from King Soopers, and to come back for another treatment, soon after their return on Monday. Totally I treated him three times, included the free check-up, in less than four days plus six packages of Chinese herbs. The outcome was he was able to heal his ankle perfectly, and years after he had referred some rock climbers to me.

For education purpose this article has been posted in my book, “Medical Revolution (1) --- A Magic Doctor (Chapter 8; 2004.)  Personally I am oppose to the policy of “the patients’ medical records are confidential” for we should share the information for better healthcare. It is crystal clear that if you would not speak it out for yourself today, who else would do it for your kids tomorrow?

Ms. M was a fifteen years old girl; on the Thanksgiving Day of 1988 she wrote me a Thanksgiving letter as following. She hoped that someday American people would be able to enjoy the powerful Chinese healing arts instead of suffering from so many kinds of sicknesses day after day and year after year. Based on Ms. M’s case history and written testimony, I have an obligation to share it with you as she had expected, but not her real name.

Some white spots in my throat: In February of 1988 a patient of mine, Ms. M, said, “I got a sore throat, and it was not bad at the beginning. Therefore, I thought it was just an ordinary sore throat. Unfortunately, it started getting worse and there were some white spots in the back of my throat. I wondered it was strep throat so I went to see a doctor who has been my family doctor for many years.” Guess what?

It would go away on its own: “In his office a nurse checked my throat for strep, and then sent me home,” said Ms. M. “About three days later they called me and said that I had viruses instead of strep throat, and the viruses would go away on its own.”

For the rest of my life: However, the sore throat kept hurting Ms. M badly so her Mom made an appointment for her to see the doctor. This time the doctor checked her throat himself. She told me, “My doctor said that I have ulcer pockets in my tonsils, and I would have ulcers comes and goes for the rest of her life. I was only fifteen years old and I had to learn to live with it. Pao, don’t you think it is terrible?”

Her throat was closing up: Well, the sore throat was getting worse and worse. It got to a point that she felt her throat was closing up. She was really getting scared. She could not breathe properly and whenever she ate something it hurt her throat very bad. Even if she swallowed the saliva it hurt, too.

I had lost a lot of weight: “By April I had lost a lot of weight, that’s why my Mom was very upset and worried,” said Ms. M. “We even really mad at my doctor.” So one day her Mom called the doctor and demanded him to refer her to a specialist, but he said that, “It does not need a specialist. Just come back to see him again.”        It would waste our time: “Hearing of the doctor’s recommendation my Mom and I looked at each other, we knew it would waste our time and money if we went to see him again,” said Ms. M. “Then my Mom kept talking to a girl friend about my throat and she recommended us to see you because you had been helped her mother very much. This friend believed that you could cure my troublesome throat.”

My first acupuncture experience: “Certainly Pao, you relieved my sore throat with acupuncture treatment during my initial visit on April 25 of 1988.” Ms. M said. “Besides, the three doses of herbal tea you had prescribed for me to improve my immune system worked very well.”

Up to you! : Therefore, I asked her to come back in five days. As they came back, her throat was fine. That’s why both Ms. M and her Mom asked me did she still need any herbs or an acupuncture treatment. I smiled and said, “Up to you!”

They couldn’t believe it: Ms. M was feeling so good and they could not believe that she was cured. Because they felt great about the result and they decided it was worth to have one more treatment and also get some more herbs that day. Since then Ms. M didn’t have any trouble with her throat. For gaining some more weight, on May 26 and July 9, she came back to me again, just for herbs.

A Thanksgiving: She trusts me with her life and all her family were so thankful for what I had done for her. So she wrote, “For God’s sake, I encouraged myself to write this letter to you on this Thanksgiving Day. ………Also I hope more and more Americans would enjoy the powerful Chinese healing arts instead of suffering from so many kinds of sicknesses day after day and year after year.”

(When in Doubt, Cut it Out? No Way, Jose!)

Do your doctors still practicing the therapy of “When in doubt, cut it out!”, even the Chinese people had already figured it out for thousands of years? It is possible, and you could be mistreated for thousands of times before the surgery was done. The following testimony is one of the many valuable documents that my patients wrote to me in the past. For your health, you should intake potassium as less as possible while you are suffering from arthritis, this is one of the many basic protections in healthcare you need to know.

Please consider this letter as a request to have the services of Pao-Chin R. Huang, Dipl. Ac. NCCA: R. Ac. Colo., coverd under my medical plan with Metlife.

To give you some background of my medical condition, I have been receiving treatment for feet problems over the past two years. I have a joint condition in both big toes and it has been getting progressively worse. Treatment to date has included massage therapy, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy and orthotics. At the last consultation with a podiatrist, he recommended surgery if things didn’t improve. The surgery involves replacing with artificial joints. I did get a second opinion from another podiatrist and he also recommended surgery.

As a last resort I consulted with a Chinese acupuncturist, Pao-Chin Huang. After two treatments my feet are almost pain-free. They haven’t feel this good in two years.

I am requesting that the treatments and services I had received and paid for be covered my medical plan, as well as further treatments of this nature. I would prefer this therapy rather than surgery and it will save Metlife thousands of medical costs, not to mention keeping my natural joints.

Although this method of treatment may be unorthodox according to Western medical standards, the practice of acupuncture has been around for thousands of years. Pao has practiced for over 40 years and is truly a doctor in every sense of the word as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Even though Mr. Xxxxxxx had make a copy of this letter to me, which included his address and telephone number, and stated “This letter may be distributed to others.” and signed, I am afraid of breaking the law of “patient’s medical records are confidential.”

Personally, I believe that, “The policy of patient’s medical records are confidential, is against the basic human rights for learning how to keep oneself in good health.” The Traditional Chinese Medicine has been existing for thousands of years and still  recommends that everyone’s medical history is a public resource for healthcare. Therefore, today we should “When in Doubt, Figure it Out!”

I always feel sorry for Americans for they do not know the blessing of human right in healthcare, which is everyone’s medical history should be a public resource, instead of confidential. Unfortunately, bad karma comes around, goes around --- the less the patients know, the more they sue the doctor.

       P. S. --- Mt. Xxxxxxx was a manager of Metlife at that time, but his request was turned down. If he had to undergo a surgery it would cost about $10,000.00, and his co-pay would be $2,000.00 or so. In fact, the total amount that he had to pay me was  only($35 + $12 = $47) x 2 = $94. Besides, even two decades passed, his natural big toes are still in good condition after two acupuncture treatments.

Certainly, kidney failure could be cured if you would treat its causes, instead of the symptoms. For example, in March of 2000, there was a 32-year-old woman who had already on dialysis three times per week for three years, and since her first dialysis was performed she was unable to urinate any more. But since her initial treatment with a combination of acupuncture, Chinese medicines and Qi-Gong massage at my clinic, the Ruseto Center, she was able to urinate again, from 1/2 ounce to 5 1/2 ounces in ten days. In other words, her dialysis could be terminated soon, and her kidneys could be cured sooner or later.

Von, female, age 29. One day she had fainted suddenly and when she became conscious again in a hospital, she saw a tube was inserted into her upper chest. And the next day after the tube was pull out, she had her first dialysis. In addition to the 3-times dialysis per week, she had to take four kinds of drugs for her high blood pressure.

Since Von was a out-of-state patient, she had to arrange her dialysis in Boulder before her coming for acupuncture treatments. Her dialyses were scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for two weeks in a row. However those dialyses took 4 to 6 hours each time, and after each dialysis she became very tired so she could not come for treatment on those dates, so I only treated her on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during that period of time.

On the first Tuesday, I applied Qi-gong massage on her Back-Shu Points, inserted needles on Kid 6, Kid 7, P 6, St. 36, and so on. Besides, she cook and drank the Chinese herbal medicines my wife, Hui, had prescribed for her. Then she was able to urinate a few times within 24-hours, totally was about half a ounce. And the next 24-hours she had urinated over one ounce of urine, even though she had another dialysis after my treatment was done.

According to Von, she might had a drop of urine per day, at the most, for the past three years. But since the first visit at Ruseto Center, she felt that she had to urinate several times per day. No matter what there was urine or not each time, she was able to urinate more and more everyday --- from merely 1/2 ounce after the initial treatment, to over 5 1/2 ounces before she came for her 6th treatment on the second Saturday. In addition, she was able to cut down her hypertension medication from 4 kinds to 1 on her own.

In a period of 10-days, the condition of Von’s kidnays were changed from failure to recovering. The progress was so crystal clear and sooner or later her dialysis could be terminated, so she decided to go home to take care of her children and then come back in about two months. Guess what! We told Von that all my family member had a chance to go back to Taiwan for the first time (for two weeks only) in sixteen years, so she had better come back before we left. Von prefer to come back for her second session of treatments after our vacation.

Something happened, during our vacation she had a chance to have one-kidney transplant and she accepted it. What does it mean? Will her own one-kidney still recovering? The answer is --- Possible, if she continued to receive alternative treatments.

(Was She a Superwoman?)

Pain is a sign of your energy and it is your treasure, so never try to kill it, if possible. As you can see a dead man has no pain at all, and a vegetable does not have much sensation of pain because his energy level is too low. How about those who are taking pain-killers and still can not walk due to lower back pain? What happened? Let me give you one of the many patients who has already known that pain is energy and treasure. She is Eva, and you might wonder that she was a superwoman.

Years ago there was a 48-year-old woman (Eva), who was on wheelchair for 11 years prior to see me for acupuncture treatments. During her initial treatment she was unable to move her left leg while she was on wheelchair. And when she was carried onto a treatment bed, her right leg could only pull back toward her hip for about 1 foot, that all. She could neither stretch it out again nor to rock it from side to side. But after I inserted the first needle on her right leg, her life had a big change.

It is said that Eva took pain-killers whenever her lower back was hurt, therefore I told her and her son that she won’t be healed if she would keep taking the pain-killers. However pain and numbness that people feel are similar to acidic and basic of the pH scale --- If a pH less than 7 is acidic and greater than 7 is basic (or alkaline); so as the same, if someone’s energy has concentrated too much somewhere it would cause pain,  and if the energy level is too low it would be numb as a result.

For Eva, after I massaged and inserted three needles on her legs, she was able to pull her right leg all the way back to her hip, while she was lying down on the bed. Also she was able to lift it 2 feet up in the air, Besides, she was able to pull her left foot back toward her hip for over one foot, and rocked it from side to side and then stretched it out again. You might wonder that “She was a superwoman.” Was not she? Is her case similar to Superman’s?

According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it’s weird if you had pain in your knee(s) and you took pain-killers to treat the symptom. Instead, you should take some herbs or foods, which give the body more energy to speed up the blood circulation. However, some practitioners of TCM might use Hong-Hua and Tao-Ren as blood thinner to treat the symptom, just like the Western physicians do with aspirins.

After all, it is the patients’ choice, to be treated or to be cured, which is based on how much do they know about the sign of their energy, the treasure of their life force, as well as the secret of healing power --- the pain.
